Programa Bilingüe
Nuestro centro pertenece a la Red Andaluza de Centros Bilingües desde el curso 2006-2007. Durante el curso 2024-25 se imparten Matemáticas, Geografía e Historia, Biología o Física en inglés en 13 grupos de ESO. Estas asignaturas se reparten de la siguiente manera según el nivel:
- 1º ESO: Geografía e Historia, Matemáticas y Biología.
- 2º ESO: Geografía e Historia, Matemáticas y Física y Química.
- 3º ESO: Geografía e Historia, Matemáticas, Biología y Física y Química.
- 4º ESO: Geografía e Historia y Matemáticas.
Se pone a disposición de todo el profesorado de las asignaturas lingüísticas (en adelante AL) y de las asignaturas no lingüísticas (en adelante ANL) participante en el Programa Bilingüe, una guía con sugerencias para la elaboración de tareas trimestrales comunes diseñadas en base a los descriptores generales establecidos por el MCERL (Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas) orientadas a la mejora del nivel competencial lingüístico de nuestro alumnado. Se trata de indicaciones amplias, en línea con la existencia de un proyecto lingüístico de centro, que pueden ser adoptadas por el profesorado de todas las áreas implicadas a pesar de la diversidad de su naturaleza.
Seguimos la metodología AICLE (Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos en Lenguas Extranjeras) implementando actividades que apuestan por la integración de contenidos en lengua inglesa, francesa y castellana. Damos prioridad a la colaboración del alumno/a y a su participación perdiendo el miedo a equivocarse, fomentando así la confianza en ellos mismos mediante la consideración de los errores como parte del proceso natural de aprendizaje.
Debido a que el enfoque AICLE tiene como elemento diferenciador exponer al alumnado a situaciones íntimamente ligadas a su vida diaria, cada año elegimos una tarea interdisciplinar que involucra a las ANL y AL sobre un tema que ya aparece de forma transversal en el currículo de nuestro alumnado. Este curso continuamos con We are what we eat y añadimos and what we think para incluir la educación emocional. Trabajamos temas que forman parte del currículo de todas las asignaturas implicadas. Este curso seguiremos contando con las valiosas aportaciones que el profesorado y alumnado de Dietética, uno de los Ciclos Formativos de Grado Superior que se imparten en nuestro, nos proporcionan.
El profesorado de L1, L2 y L3 fomenta la reflexión sobre el propio proceso de aprendizaje de nuestro alumnado con el Portfolio Europeo de las Lenguas en su versión electrónica. Se aconseja a los alumnos que utilicen su cuenta e-Pel no sólo en septiembre y junio, sino siempre que quieran comprobar los indicadores de logro para alcanzar los objetivos propuestos a principios de curso.
Cada año contamos con un auxiliar lingüístico financiado por la Unión Europea que trabaja con nuestro alumnado dede el mes de octubre a mayo. El presente curso contamos con Maxine Wydrzynski, procedente de North Carolina, EEUU. Su horario incluye 12h semanales de atención directa al alumnado, y dos horas de formación en lengua y cultura españolas con un curso online proporcionado por la Junta de Andalucía. Sus aportaciones en clase suponen una importante motivación para nuestro alumnado, aumentando así sus posibilidades de prácticar la competencia lingüística en lengua extranjera.
Además, somos centro colaborador en el programa de Prácticas Curriculares del Alumnado Universitario de Titulaciones del Ámbito Lingüístico, Filológico y Traductológico en Centros Bilingües, y este año contaremos con un alumno de Estudios Angloamericanos realizando sus prácticas con nosotros.
Buscamos la internacionalización del centro promoviendo la participación de nuestro alumnado en proyectos europeos Erasmus +, y en proyectos colaborativos digitales a través de la nueva Plataforma Europea de Educación Escolar (ESEP), que integra eTwinning. Parte de nuestro profesorado colabora activamente en la elaboración y gestión de los Proyectos Erasmus que el centro lleva a cabo tanto en la sección de Formación Profesional, como en la de Educación Secundaria y de Bachillerato.
Bilingual Program
Our school has been part of the Andalusian Network of Bilingual Centres since the
2006-2007 academic year. During the academic year 2024-25, Mathematics, Geography and History, Biology and Physics are being taught in English in 13 groups of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education). These subjects are distributed as follows according to level:
- 1st ESO: Geography and History, Mathematics and Biology.
- 2nd ESO: Geography and History, Mathematics and Physics and Chemistry.
- 3rd ESO: Geography and History, Mathematics, Biology and Physics and Chemistry.
- 4th ESO: Geography and History and Mathematics.
A guide with suggestions for the development of common termly tasks, designed on the basis of the general descriptors established by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) with the aim of improving the level of linguistic competence of our students, is made available to all the teachers of language subjects (hereinafter LS), and non-language subjects (hereinafter NLS), participating in the Bilingual Programme. In accordance with the existence of a school language project, these general indications can be taken up by teachers in all the areas concerned despite the diversity of their nature.
We follow the CLIL methodology (Content Integrated Learning in Foreign Languages), implementing activities that are focused on the integration of content in English, French and Spanish. We prioritise student collaboration and participation, losing the fear of making mistakes, and promoting self-confidence by considering mistakes as part of the natural learning process.
Due to the fact that the CLIL approach has as a distinctive element exposing students to situations closely linked to their daily lives, every year we chose an interdisciplinary task that involves both NLS and LS on a topic that already appears as a cross curricular syllabus of our students. This year, we continue working on the topic We are what we eat, adding and what we think to include the actions accomplished in relation to emotions in all of the subjects included in the Programme. This year, both teachers and students of Dietetics, one of the Higher Education Vocational Training Cycles taught at our school, continue advising us on the topic of nutrition.
By means of the electronic European Language Portfolio, L1, L2 and L3 teachers
encourage our students’ self reflection on their own learning process. Students are advised to use their e-Pel account not only in September and June, but whenever they feel like checking the achievement indicators to reach the objectives proposed at the beginning of the year.
Every year we have a language assistant financed by the European Union who works with our students from October to May. This academic year Maxine Wydrzynski, from North Carolina, USA, will be working with us. Her work schedule includes 12 hours a week of direct attention to the students, and two hours of learning about Spanish culture and language with an online course provided by the regional government, Junta de Andalucía. Her contributions in class are an important motivation for our students, thus increasing their possibilities of practising their linguistic competence in a foreign language.
In addition, we are a collaborating centre in the Programme of Curricular Internships for University Students of Linguistic, Philological and Translatological Degrees in Bilingual Centres, and this year we have a student from Anglo-American Studies doing his internship with us.
We aim to internationalise the school by promoting the participation of our students in European Erasmus+ projects, and in collaborative digital projects through the new European School Education Platform (ESEP), which integrates eTwinning. Part of our teaching staff collaborates actively in the development and management of the Erasmus Projects that the centre carries out both in the Vocational Training section, and in the Secondary Education and Baccalaureate one.
Conoce el Centro
El IES LITORAL se inauguró en 1988, en la antigua sede de la facultad de Ciencias de la UMA. Su origen fue como centro de Bachillerato, este curso se cumplirán 33 años desde su creación.
Nuestro centro tiene una característica a destacar que le confiere peculiaridad en lo que a convivencia se refiere: el alumnado procede de dos zonas muy distintas ya que tenemos adscritos dos centros de Primaria: por una parte, el ya citado CEIP “Vicente Aleixandre”, al que acude un alumnado muy diverso social y económicamente, y por otro el CEIP “Julio Caro Baroja” situado en la urbanización Guadalmar. Los cerca de 200 alumnos/as de la zona de Guadalmar, San Julián y “La Azucarera” usan transporte escolar para su desplazamiento al centro.
Toma el nombre de la revista Litoral de poesía, arte y pensamiento. Nuestro logo es el mismo de la revista, si bien luego se han hecho variaciones para la biblioteca y en el 25 aniversario se propuso otro “pescaito” como en el centro se le llama.
El compromiso con la cultura en el centro es más que evidente, uno de los principales objetivos es el seguir luchando porque el contacto con la cultura siga guiando nuestros pasos.
En este momento el centro imparte las Enseñanzas Secundarias Obligatorias, Bachillerato y Ciclos formativos de grado medio y grado superior tanto en enseñanzas presenciales como duales.
Por ello, nuestra comunidad educativa abarca un amplio abanico de edad entre nuestro alumnado.
Además, participa en diferentes proyectos y programas para hacer aumentar la dimensión europea de nuestra comunidad educativa con el desarrollo de la Formación en Centros de Trabajo en países europeos mediante el Programa Erasmus+
Es un centro de puertas abiertas, en el horario de tarde de lunes a jueves se ofrecen actividades extraescolares, llevamos a cabo el Plan de Apertura de Centros, donde se ofrecen actividades de refuerzo educativo y actividades recreativas. También funciona el Programa gratuito Pro-infancia de la Obra Social La Caixa, en colaboración con la Asociación sin ánimo de lucro TRANS, donde ofrecen Apoyo Educativo (aula abierta, estudio asistido, atención logopedia, etc.). Además el centro colabora con el CB EBG y MÁLAGA OESTE, entidad privada sin ánimo de lucro, siendo su sede deportiva.
Finalmente, parte activa de la actividad del Centro es la A.M.P.A, que colabora en la organización de actividades y subvenciona en la medida de lo posible algunas actuaciones que se llevan a cabo en el centro.
Get to know the Center
IES LITORAL was inaugurated in 1988, in the former headquarters of the Faculty of Sciences of the UMA. Its origin was as a Baccalaureate center, this year will mark 33 years since its creation.
Our school has a characteristic to highlight that gives it a peculiarity in terms of coexistence: the students come from two very different areas since we have two primary schools attached to it: on the one hand, the aforementioned CEIP “Vicente Aleixandre”, which is attended by a very diverse student body socially and economically, and on the other hand, the CEIP “Julio Caro Baroja” located in the Guadalmar urbanization. The nearly 200 students in the area of Guadalmar, San Julián and “La Azucarera” use school transport to get to the school.
It takes its name from the magazine Litoral of poetry, art and thought. Our logo is the same as that of the magazine, although later variations have been made for the library and on the 25th anniversary another “pescaito”, as it is called in the centre, was proposed.
Our commitment to culture in the center is more than evident, one of the main objectives is to continue pusuing that contact with culture continues to guide our steps.
At the moment, the centre offers Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and
Intermediate and Higher Level Training Cycles in both face-to-face and dual education. For this reason, our educational community covers a wide range of ages among our students.
In addition, we participate in different projects and programs to increase the European dimension of our educational community with the development of Workplace Training in European countries through the Erasmus+ Program.
It is an open-door center, from Monday to Thursday extracurricular activities are offered in the afternoon, we carry out the Plan for the Opening of Centers, which offers educational reinforcement activities and recreational activities. There is also the free Pro-childhood programme of the Obra Social La Caixa, in collaboration with the non-profit association TRANS, where they offer Educational Support (open classroom, assisted study, speech therapy, etc.). In addition, the center collaborates with the Basketball Club EBG and MÁLAGA OESTE, a private non-profit entity, being its sports headquarters.
Finally, an active part of the Centre’s activity is the Parents’ Association, which collaborates in the organisation of activities and subsidises as far as possible some of the actions carried out at the centre.
