El IES LITORAL se inauguró en 1988, en la antigua sede de la facultad de Ciencias de la UMA. Su origen fue como centro de Bachillerato, este curso se cumplirán 33 años desde su creación.
Nuestro centro tiene una característica a destacar que le confiere peculiaridad en lo que a convivencia se refiere: el alumnado procede de dos zonas muy distintas ya que tenemos adscritos dos centros de Primaria: por una parte, el ya citado CEIP “Vicente Aleixandre”, al que acude un alumnado muy diverso social y económicamente, y por otro el CEIP “Julio Caro Baroja” situado en la urbanización Guadalmar. Los cerca de 200 alumnos/as de la zona de Guadalmar, San Julián y “La Azucarera” usan transporte escolar para su desplazamiento al centro.
Toma el nombre de la revista Litoral de poesía, arte y pensamiento. Nuestro logo es el mismo de la revista, si bien luego se han hecho variaciones para la biblioteca y en el 25 aniversario se propuso otro “pescaito” como en el centro se le llama.
El compromiso con la cultura en el centro es más que evidente, uno de los principales objetivos es el seguir luchando porque el contacto con la cultura siga guiando nuestros pasos.
En este momento el centro imparte las Enseñanzas Secundarias Obligatorias, Bachillerato y Ciclos formativos de grado medio y grado superior tanto en enseñanzas presenciales como duales.
Por ello, nuestra comunidad educativa abarca un amplio abanico de edad entre nuestro alumnado.
Además, participa en diferentes proyectos y programas para hacer aumentar la dimensión europea de nuestra comunidad educativa con el desarrollo de la Formación en Centros de Trabajo en países europeos mediante el Programa Erasmus+
Es un centro de puertas abiertas, en el horario de tarde de lunes a jueves se ofrecen actividades extraescolares, llevamos a cabo el Plan de Apertura de Centros, donde se ofrecen actividades de refuerzo educativo y actividades recreativas. También funciona el Programa gratuito Pro-infancia de la Obra Social La Caixa, en colaboración con la Asociación sin ánimo de lucro TRANS, donde ofrecen Apoyo Educativo (aula abierta, estudio asistido, atención logopedia, etc.). Además el centro colabora con el CB EBG y MÁLAGA OESTE, entidad privada sin ánimo de lucro, siendo su sede deportiva.
Finalmente, parte activa de la actividad del Centro es la A.M.P.A, que colabora en la organización de actividades y subvenciona en la medida de lo posible algunas actuaciones que se llevan a cabo en el centro.
Get to know the Center (english version)
IES LITORAL was inaugurated in 1988, in the former headquarters of the Faculty of Sciences of the UMA. Its origin was as a Baccalaureate center, this year will mark 33 years since its creation.
Our school has a characteristic to highlight that gives it a peculiarity in terms of coexistence: the students come from two very different areas since we have two primary schools attached to it: on the one hand, the aforementioned CEIP “Vicente Aleixandre”, which is attended by a very diverse student body socially and economically, and on the other hand, the CEIP “Julio Caro Baroja” located in the Guadalmar urbanization. The nearly 200 students in the area of Guadalmar, San Julián and “La Azucarera” use school transport to get to the school.
It takes its name from the magazine Litoral of poetry, art and thought. Our logo is the same as that of the magazine, although later variations have been made for the library and on the 25th anniversary another “pescaito”, as it is called in the centre, was proposed.
Our commitment to culture in the center is more than evident, one of the main objectives is to continue pusuing that contact with culture continues to guide our steps.
At the moment, the centre offers Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Intermediate and Higher Level Training Cycles in both face-to-face and dual education. For this reason, our educational community covers a wide range of ages among our students.
In addition, we participate in different projects and programs to increase the European dimension of our educational community with the development of Workplace Training in European countries through the Erasmus+ Program.
It is an open-door center, from Monday to Thursday extracurricular activities are offered in the afternoon, we carry out the Plan for the Opening of Centers, which offers educational reinforcement activities and recreational activities. There is also the free Pro-childhood programme of the Obra Social La Caixa, in collaboration with the non-profit association TRANS, where they offer Educational Support (open classroom, assisted study, speech therapy, etc.). In addition, the center collaborates with the Basketball Club EBG and MÁLAGA OESTE, a private non-profit entity, being its sports headquarters.
Finally, an active part of the Centre’s activity is the Parents’ Association, which collaborates in the organisation of activities and subsidises as far as possible some of the actions carried out at the centre.
